The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is now recruiting Census Engagement Managers for the 2021 Census.

35 Census Engagement Manager positions will be only open to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander applicants. These roles are available across the country in all states and territories, including WA.

Census Engagement Manager role

Census Engagement Managers are specialised roles requiring a high degree of community interaction. They will be working within communities telling people about the Census and ensuring everyone can take part and get the help they need. Where possible, Census Engagement Managers will be recruited locally.

The Census

The Census will be held on 10 August 2021, and is a snapshot of who we are and tells the story of how we are changing.

“Did you know? Census data helps the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health plan medical clinics for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Census data is also used to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can access affordable and culturally appropriate community housing,” ABS said.

“Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with strong engagement and communication skills and who love interacting with their mob are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to work with their networks and bring their community along on the journey.”
