Community, Environment and Economic Development Projects

In addition to representing the rights of Traditional Owners in relation to native title, and land access, YMAC also work on projects to create a strong future for people and country.

Economic and Business Development

Economic and business development creates community-based enterprises and assists Traditional Owners with economic development initiatives. We help groups to identify their aspirations assist with the development of business ideas, plans and job placement.

Community Development

Community development projects assist groups to identify needs, goals and aspirations. This includes working to develop project plans and corporate structures for the management of their communities. YMAC also works with local, state and commonwealth agencies, resources companies and other organisations on future community development.

Pilbara Aboriginal Voice (Kakurrka Muri)

In 2014, YMAC began coordinating the Annual On-Country Bush Meeting at Yule River for Traditional Owners to gather to discuss issues with government representatives.

The focus of this meeting was to discuss amendments to the State Government’s Aboriginal Heritage Act.

The community has since driven the agenda items to cover social and community issues affecting Aboriginal People.

In 2017, Pilbara Aboriginal People resolved to establish a reference group which could interface with all levels of government at a regional-level.

The “Pilbara Aboriginal Voice (Kakurrka Muri)”, also known as ‘PAV’ was officially endorsed by State and Federal government representatives in 2018.

YMAC provides secretariat and coordination support to the group, and provides ongoing coordination of the Annual Bush Meeting at Yule River .

Country is our mother, the provider and keeper of cultural belongings. Country and Culture go together. You can’t have one without the other.

Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and custodians throughout Western Australia, and on whose Country we work. We acknowledge and respect their deep connection to their lands and waterways.

We honour and pay respect to Elders, and to their ancestors who survived and cared for Country.

Our offices are located on Whadjuk Country, Southern Yamatji Country, Yinggarda Country, Kariyarra Country, and Yawuru Country. We recognise the continuing culture, traditions, stories and living cultures on these lands and commit to building a brighter future together.
