South Hedland Consultations: Have your say on how you can age well in your community!

The State Government, on behalf of the Hon. Don Punch MLA, Minister for Seniors and Ageing, is developing WA’s first Seniors Strategy.

The Department of Communities is keen to hear the thoughts and opinions of older Western Australians to help shape the strategy.

Consultation sessions are being held across the state in May and June 2022, with sessions at Lotteries House in South Hedland taking place on Thursday, 5 May 2022:

  • Session 1: 9.30am – 11.30am
  • Session 2: 12.30pm – 2.30pm

One-on-one phone interviews are available for people who are unable to attend a consultation session.

Northampton COVID Vaccination Clinic

Free COVID-19 adult, child and booster vaccinations will be available to Northampton residents, at Northampton Hospital at the Day Centre, 103 Stephen St, Northampton, 6535 on the 28 April 2022.

All people aged 5 and over are eligible to receive their free COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine.

COVID-19 Boosters are now available for people aged 16+, three months after your second dose.

Walk-ins are welcomed. Children aged 5-16 need to be accompanied by a parent, carer or adult and must book.

Law Week Art Competition – Entries Now Open

During Law Week (16 to 20 May 2022), Regional Alliance West (“RAW”) will be running an art competition, with the theme of “Law and the Pandemic”. Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne artists are being invited to submit original works in any medium, format or size that reflect upon the theme.

Law Week is a national event that highlights the role of the law and the legal profession in our daily lives, providing the community with a greater understanding and awareness of the law and legal system.

The closing date for the competition is 4:00 pm on Thursday 28 April 2022.  An exhibition and awards ceremony will be held at 3:30 pm on Thursday 19 May 2022.

Expansion of the Aboriginal Pastoral Academy

The State Government recently announced its support for the expansion of the Aboriginal Pastoral Academy in the State’s north.

The Aboriginal Pastoral Academy was developed in response to industry requests to provide a supported career path for young Aboriginal adults, while boosting the capacity and capability of the pastoral industry workforce.

New partnerships have been formed to take the Academy to the next level by engaging station owners with training providers and school-based programs and creating links between a range of quality training opportunities, refresher courses, mentoring and workplace placements to create jobs and satisfy industry workforce requirements.

The CEW Scholarship Program offers a wide range of scholarships available to women working in specific sectors and specialties.

The scholarship program runs throughout the year, and in most cases, applicants will have the flexibility to choose a course that best suits their career aspirations.

Aurizon Community Giving Grants Now Open

Aurizon Community Giving Fund applications are now open, offering cash grants of up to $20,00 to eligible charity or community groups to complete a project in the areas of health and wellbeing, community safety, environment, or education.
