Voice to Parliament – Yamatji and Pilbara Referendum Roadshows
First Nations peoples from across the nation came together and created The Uluru Statement from the Heart.
We call for Voice, Treaty and Truth – in that order.
The Voice to Parliament is the first part of implementing the Uluru Statement of the Heart, which will strengthen the relationship between First Nations people and all Australians through recognition and respect.
YMAC’s Board of Directors was proud to endorse the Yes vote for the Voice to Parliament 2023 referendum, believing it will allow future generations to have equal opportunity in all areas.
YMAC Co-Chairperson – Yamatji Region, Mr Peter Windie, said recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Constitution and creating a Voice to Parliament was a vitally important step to move forward.
“It will better enable us to shape our future and give First Nations peoples the means to speak on decisions that impact our lives,” he said.
YMAC Co-Chairperson – Pilbara Region, Miss Natalie Parker, says the Voice to Parliament would be a positive move for real and practical change that could lead the way in overcoming disadvantages faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.
“We need to be involved in the decisions about us to ensure our concerns and ideas – and potential solutions – are heard by government,” she said.
We want you to join us on this journey, so we are coming to the Pilbara and Yamatji regions as part of our Referendum Roadshow.
