Land and Sea Management

Land and Sea Management (LSM) encompasses a wide range of functions and activities that can be described as “looking after Country”.

As native title claims become determined, one of the next logical steps is to consider Land and Sea Management. It is one of the most promising land access outcomes in the context of self-determination for the Traditional Owners we represent.

About us

YMAC’s LSM unit has been operational in its current form since 2015, although we have been providing services in this space since 2010.

We customise our services to meet the specific needs of our clients, helping them to meet their short-term and long-term goals, identifying appropriate resources, and managing projects on their respective Countries.

This might involve project management, cultural heritage / environmental conservation planning, fieldwork, grant seeking, GIS (maps) support, on-the-ground delivery of works, administrative tasks, media liaison, reporting, and more.

Services offered by our LSM team include:

If you have a Land and Sea Management program enquiry or would like more information please contact us.

YMAC currently provides operational and administrative support to deliver several Aboriginal LSM projects at different stages of development.

More information on our programs can be found in the side menu on this page.

Country is our mother, the provider and keeper of cultural belongings. Country and Culture go together. You can’t have one without the other.

Yamatji Marlpa Aboriginal Corporation respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners and custodians throughout Western Australia, and on whose Country we work. We acknowledge and respect their deep connection to their lands and waterways.

We honour and pay respect to Elders, and to their ancestors who survived and cared for Country.

Our offices are located on Whadjuk Country, Southern Yamatji Country, Yinggarda Country, Kariyarra Country, and Yawuru Country. We recognise the continuing culture, traditions, stories and living cultures on these lands and commit to building a brighter future together.
