Geraldton Community Grants now open

The City of Greater Geraldton is now taking applications for its Community Grants Program. Grants will be awarded to community groups and organisations to help them make positive contributions to the quality of life in the Geraldton region.

Applications can be submitted in any of the following categories:

  • Cultural Grant – Opportunities for Creativity
  • Economy Grant – Opportunities for Prosperity
  • Environmental Grant – Opportunities for Sustainability
  • Governance Grant – Leading the Opportunities
  • Social Grant – Opportunities for Lifestyle

Land Management assistance from ILC

Applications close soon for land management assistance from the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC). ILC assists projects on Indigenous-held land that promote:

  • development of Indigenous businesses that relate to the use of land;
  • cultural and environmental heritage protection; and
  • sustainable management of the land.

Applicants for the Land Management Program can be Indigenous landholders, government agencies or non-government organisations. All applicants must call and discuss their project with the ILC before submitting their application.

Community Action Grants for natural resource management

The Australian Government is currently offering grants under the Caring for our Country program for community groups actively involved in protecting and improving their environment.

Grants between $5000 and $20,000 are available to help community groups carry out on-ground parojects and/or knowledge sharing activities in areas of:

  • coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats,
  • sustainable farm practices, or
  • biodiversity and natural icons

Projects may include recording and using traditional ecological knowledge, developing natural resource management plans, or restoring endangered ecological communities.

Indigenous Arts Funding: applications now open

The WA Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA) awards a wide range of grants to artists, artsworkers, groups and organisations, including targeted Indigenous Arts Funding grants.

The DCA is now accepting applications for two different categories in their Indigenous Arts Grant Program:

Development (click here for more): This category is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, groups or organisations working in all eligible art forms for projects that involved the exploration of new ideas, the development of new skills, the creation of new work or the recreation or reinterpretation of traditional or customary practices or cultural expression.

Distribution and Marketing (click here for more): This category is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, groups or organisations working in all eligible art forms and facilitates the distribution of an existing WA arts activity, event or product to new audiences locally, interstate, and/or internationally.

City of Geraldton Community Grants

This week is the last chance to put in applications for the City of Greater Geraldton’s Recurrent Community Grants Program for 2012.

The aim of the program is to provide assistance to local community groups and organisations that make positive contributions to the quality of life within the Greater Geraldton region.

Applications for Recurrent Community Grants may be submitted in the following categories:

  • Cultural Grant – Opportunities for Creativity
  • Economy Grant – Opportunities for Prosperity
  • Environmental Grant – Opportunities for Sustainability
  • Social Grant – Opportunities for Lifestyle

This is a great opportunity for Geraldton not-for-profit organisations to gain some financial support for their projects that benefit the community.

Apply now for Community Action Grants

Through the Australian Government’s Caring for our Country initiative, Community groups around Australia can now apply for small grants to help fund local environmental and sustainable agriculture projects. The 2011-12 Community Action Grants round will make $5 million dollars available to rural, urban and Indigenous community groups to help them conserve and protect their local environment and natural resources.

The grants will range from $5000 to $20,000 for projects such as planting trees, revegetating landscapes, rehabilitating dunes, removing weeds, controlling pests, holding field days, recording traditional ecological knowledge and improving sustainable land management practices.

These grants will enable community groups and local Indigenous organisations to look after their country through programs that protect biodiversity and natural icons, coastal environments and critical aquatic habitats.

Apply Now For Pilbara Development Commission Grant

Does your community group have a project in mind that requires funding assistance? The final round of the Pilbara Development Commission’s Small Grants Scheme is now open for applications up to $10,000.

As part of Royalties For Regions, the scheme is designed to assist small community groups in the Pilbara with funding for projects up to $10,000.
