Wayne was first elected to the Yamatji Regional Committee in March 2021 and again in November 2024.

Wayne is a proud to be part of the Hutt River Mob and resides in Carnarvon. He was also a claimant in the Yamatji Nation Southern Regional Agreement, through his mother Stella May Ogilvie’s (nee Evans) multiple connections to Hutt River. Being part of native title has given Wayne more of an insight into who he really is – a proud Aboriginal man looking forward to future challenges.

In his role on the Yamati Regional Committee Wayne aims to do his best to be a just YMAC member; undertaking his committee member duties honestly and transparently. Through this committee membership, Wayne appreciates the opportunity to learn about native title and be part of the many ways in which Aboriginal people are making the most of their native title recognition, and to improve the lives of community. He aims to continue to learn more about his family connections, his ancestors and to eventually live back on Country.

Wayne’s hobbies include pyrotechnics, and doing paintings and etchings that reflect his love of Aboriginal culture and connection to Country.
