2022 Federal Election

2022 Federal Election

The upcoming 2022 Federal Election provides opportunity to highlight to elected Members of Parliament and candidates key federal issues affecting Traditional Owners.

Critical national issues for this important election include (but are not limited to):

These matters have been identified by YMAC’s Board of Directors and respective regional committees, as well as the wider Yamatji and Pilbara Aboriginal communities, as critical to the wellbeing and advancement of Traditional Owners in our representative areas.

YMAC is committed to continuing to hold all levels of government – regardless of what parties are in power – accountable on these critical issues.

We hope you will support us in these efforts.

To read more about YMAC’s advocacy work on these issues, as well as others, you can search our media statements here, and our written submissions here.

You can also view YMAC’s ‘Roadmap to Reform’ – a framework we developed to outline basic requirements necessary to ensure alignment between legislation across jurisdictions, and address the current power imbalance and inequity faced by Traditional Owners, specifically in regard to agreement-making and cultural heritage protection – here.
